The US imposes tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles and others! Copper prices have risen to their highest level in two years!

On May 14th, the US released the results of a four-year review of the 301 tariff on China, announcing that on the basis of the original 301 tariff, it will further increase the tariffs on imported electric vehicles, lithium batteries, photovoltaic cells, key minerals, semiconductors, as well as steel and aluminum, port cranes, personal protective equipment and other products from China. China firmly opposes and solemnly negotiates.

Driven by predictions of a widening global supply gap, copper prices have rebounded strongly, rising by 0.5% to $10239 per ton, reaching the highest level since 2022. Since early January, copper prices have risen by nearly 20%. The bulk commodity market was boosted by China's plan to launch long-term special treasury bond to support the country's major infrastructure, with copper prices rising 1.8% on Monday.
